Champion SA80 Brute Maintenance Reamers for Enlarging & Aligning Existing Holes

Champion SA80 Brute Maintenance Reamers are heavy-duty HSS aligning reamers designed to enlarge, align and correct existing holes in steel, stainless steel and tough alloys. Built for real maintenance work, fabrication, steel erection and truck/trailer repair, the SA80 series is made for situations where a standard drill bit is the wrong tool and forcing it anyway is how expensive mistakes become “learning experiences.”

The SA80 Brute series features a left-hand helix, right-hand cut design that shears chips away from the operator for cleaner chip evacuation and improved control. Each reamer also includes a safety collar stop to help prevent over-penetration and improve operator stability during use.

These surface-treated high-speed steel maintenance reamers are ideal for use in power drills, drill presses and portable drilling setups. Sizes from 5/16" through 1" use a 1/2" flatted shank, while larger sizes from 1-1/8" through 1-1/2" use a 3/4" shank.

Key Benefits

  • Enlarges and aligns existing holes through steel, stainless steel and tough alloys.
  • Left-hand helix, right-hand cut helps shear chips away from the operator.
  • Safety collar stop helps prevent over-penetration and improves stability.
  • Surface-treated HSS construction for durability in severe maintenance applications.
  • Designed for steel erection, fabrication, construction, MRO and truck/trailer repair.
  • Works in power drills, drill presses and portable drilling setups.
  • Available in sizes from 5/16" to 1-1/2".

When to Use a Maintenance Reamer

Use a maintenance reamer when an existing hole needs to be enlarged, aligned, cleaned up or corrected. These tools are especially useful when working with bolt holes in structural steel, repair parts, fabricated assemblies, truck frames, trailers and other heavy-duty metal applications.

Maintenance Reamer vs. Drill Bit

A drill bit is designed to create a new hole. A maintenance reamer is designed to improve an existing hole by enlarging, aligning or cleaning it up. If the hole already exists and needs correction, the SA80 Brute reamer is usually the smarter tool.

Always wear appropriate PPE. Cutting tools may shatter if used incorrectly. Use proper speed, feed pressure and tool holding. Follow Champion and machine manufacturer safety instructions.
